Race for Research Returns on August 20

On August 20, Race for Research returns for the 21st 5K run/walk at Washington Park in Denver.

The event raises funds for cancer research in Colorado in memory of Michele Plachy-Rubin. Plachy-Rubin lost her battle to brain cancer in 1998. Plachy-Rubin, a young wife, mother, and teacher for Denver Public Schools was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1996. During her treatment Plachy-Rubin’s friends conceived the idea for Race for Research as an effort to raise money to fund local cancer research.

This family-friendly event includes a 5K walk/run, a pancake breakfast, a Sponsor Expo with free samples, kids play area with games, kiddie train, clowns, sports mascots, and a Beer Garden.
